How it works
1. Open a listing
DoorMeter reads the price, beds, HOA and the listing's own rent and tax figures from the page you're on.
2. It fills the gaps
Missing rent, tax or insurance comes from bundled U.S. government data (HUD fair market rents, Census tax rates, Treasury insurance data), and every number says where it came from.
3. Tweak and decide
Change the down payment, rate or rent and everything updates instantly. Save the deals worth a second look and compare them side by side.

FAQ
How accurate are the numbers?
They're estimates to help you screen deals fast. Rent comes from the listing when it has one, otherwise from HUD fair market rents, which run conservative. Taxes use county effective rates on the purchase price, and insurance uses 2022 owner-occupied premiums (landlord policies usually cost more). You can change any number. The guide explains where each estimate comes from.
Does DoorMeter collect my data?
Your deals, profiles and settings stay in your browser. Only two things ever leave it: your license key, checked with our payment provider, and broken-page reports you choose to send. See the privacy policy.
Which sites work?
Zillow and Redfin listing and search pages, in desktop Chrome. Zenlist users can turn it on for Zenlist listings and search tiles from the toolbar button.
Why do some search results show a grey badge?
Search results don't always include everything the math needs, such as a condo's HOA fee or a building's number of units. DoorMeter won't guess those: open the listing for the full analysis.
Does it handle house hacking?
Yes. Switch the card to House hack to see what living in one unit (or one bedroom) would cost after the rent from the others, how that compares with renting, and the numbers once you move out, with FHA, conventional or VA loan settings. See the guide.
Is this financial advice?
No. DoorMeter is a calculator. Check the numbers with a lender, an insurer and local professionals before you buy.
